The Department of Veterans Affairs is warning veterans about a Veterans Administration insurance dividend hoax, a perennial onslaught of poorly-made copies of sample letters falsely advising former servicemen that the VA owes them money.

Counselors at the Togus VA Center may provide accurate informaton on VA benefits and they may be reached by calling 1-800-452-1935 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Veterans in Portland should call 775-6391 and those in Augusta, 623-8000.
