The Maine congressional delegation has announced the following federal grants, awards and contracts received in June.

From the Department of Education:

$2.5 million to the Margaret Chase Smith Foundation for its endowment fund for the support of the Margaret Chase Smith Library Center in Skowhegan.

From Environmental Protection Agency:

$1,000 to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection for Maine’s hazardous waste management program.

$22,818 to the Maine Department of Agriculture for Maine’s pesticide enforcement program for 1990.

$40,000 to the Maine department of Environmental Protection for the outreach operator training program.

$64,000 to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection for the non-point source management program.

$80,586 to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection for an asbestos enhancement grant.

$147,390 to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection for the water quality management plan.

$215,160 to the Milo Water District for the design and construction of six individual subsurface treatment systems, six pump stations, 10,400 linear feet of force main, 6,650 feet of interceptor, a three-cell aerated lagoon treatment system and 350 feet of outfall.

$300,000 to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection for Maine’s leaking underground storage tank trust fund cooperative agreement.

From the Farmers Home Administration:

$67,500 to the state of Maine for the Augusta State Airport to conduct a master plan update.

From the Department of Health and Human Services:

$11,006 to the Maine Department of Human Services for health programs for refugees.

$100,000 to the Aroostook Micmac Council Inc. of Presque Isle for social and economic development.

$120,601 to the Bucksport Regional Health Center for a community health center.

$156,662 to Eastport Health Care Inc.

$323,686 to Fish River Rural Health Systems of Eagle Lake.

$794,177 to the Rural Health Centers of Maine Inc. of Augusta for a community health center.

$1,253,617 to the Kennebec Valley Regional Health Agency of Waterville for a commuity health center.

$214,425 to the Jackson Laboratory of Bar Harbor for the development of new SCID mouse models for AIDS research.

$216,623 to the Jackson Laboratory of Bar Harbor for non-H-2 histocompatibility genes and antigens.

$247,433 to the Jackson Laboratory of Bar Harbor for murine models of pneumocystis cainii infection.

From the Department of Housing and Urban Development:

$425,000 to the state of Maine for the rental rehabilitation program.

From the Department of Justice:

$325,000 to the Maine Department of Corrections for the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention programs.

From the Department of Labor:

for Title III/Discretionary Emergency grant to retrain employees, to asess skills and for job training:

$100,000 to Bar Harbor Airways of Bangor.

$308,394 to Georgia-Pacific/Great Northern of Millinocket.

From National Endowment for the Arts:

$6,000 to Bowdoin College of Brunswick to support artists’ fees and related costs for the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival during 1990.

$357,000 to the Maine Arts Commission to support basic state grant activities.

From the National Park Service:

$13,750 to the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development for the town of Whitefield for the development of a playground, a basketball court and other items at the town elementary school.

From the Department of the Navy:

$23.4 million to Bath Iron Works for modification to previous contract for lead yard services for the DDG-51 program.

From the Department of Transportation:

$82,300 to the Maine Department of Transportation for short-range transit operational planning; entrepreneurial planning; private sector planning; Elderly and Handicapped planning; program support and administration.
