Former employees of The Playmill of Maine are now eligible for special assistance under the federal Trade Act of 1974, according to Charles Morrison, commissioner of the Maine Department of Labor.
Located in Dover-Foxcroft, the company produces wooden toys and accessories. Workers can apply for assistance if they were laid off by the firm, or had their hours reduced, after May 29, 1989.
Morrison said the benefits include job-search assistance, training, relocation allowances and additional weeks of unemployment benefits. Claims may be filed at any Labor Department office.
