BAR HARBOR — The Acadian Whalewatcher Corp. will sponsor a special trip of the Acadian Whalewatcher at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Golden Anchor Dock to benefit marine mammal research at the College of the Atlantic.

Ticket sales proceeds will go to Allied Whale, the research group, and naturalists on board will help interpret sightings, answer questions and describe research techniques.

Among researchers on the trip will be Beverly Agler, director of the North Atlantic Finback Catalog, and Kim Robertson, director of the Mount Desert Rock Marine Research Station.

Allied Whale has been a leader in whale research for nearly 20 years. The group has operated from the Mount Desert Rock Marine Research Station since 1973 and maintained the North Atlantic Humpback Whale Catalog since 1976 and Finback Catalog since 1985.

The Acadian Whalewatcher serves drinks, pastries, soup and sandwiches and has generous deck space for viewing whales, porpoises, seals and seabirds.

Tickets are available at the Acadian Whalewatcher Office on West Street and at the Acadian Whalewatcher Shop on Main Street. Prices are $25 for adults; $18 for ages 9 to 14; $15 for ages 6 to 8 and free for those under 5 years.

Call 288-9776 for reservations.
