LINCOLN — Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Tuesday for the
LLincoln Maine Federal Credit Union’s new building on West Broadway.
David Brillant, the credit union manager, said the new
ffacility and its location would provide more space, private rooms,
mmore parking space, a drive-up window, and provisions for a night
ddepository. It will be handicapped-accessible.
Brillant said the new facility would better serve the credit
uunion’s more than 4,000 members. “We are making a commitment to the
ffuture of Lincoln.”
The new 2,400-square-foot facility, with a full basement, is
eestimated to cost nearly $300,000. Excavation is under way, and
cconstruction is expected to be complete by fall.
General contractor for the new facility is Haskell Lumber Co.
oof Lincoln Center.
The long-established credit union has served the Lincoln area
ssince the early 1960s. In 1968 when Standard Packaging, the town’s
mmajor industry, closed its doors, the former Mattanawcook Federal
CCredit Union, which served that industry, merged with the community
ccredit union, the Lincoln Maine Federal Credit Union, which today
hhas assets of $6.5 million.
