A woman residing at the Bangor Area Shelter reported to Bangor police Monday that she had been sexually assaulted Sunday as she rested in Davenport Park. The woman told police that she was walking toward the shelter Sunday evening when she decided to lie down in the park and rest. She said that while she was resting, an unidentified man sat down beside her and began to touch her. He then began to take off her clothes.

According to the police incident report, the woman said she was too afraid to scream and when the man left she stayed in the park for an hour before going to the shelter where she spent Sunday night on the steps. She told police she was too afraid to call them that night.

The woman was taken to the emergency room at Eastern Maine Medical Center by a rape crisis worker, and she was interviewed there by police.

Daniel Denicola, 45, Hartford, Conn., was arrested Monday afternoon by Bangor police and charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

Daniel F. Johnson, 29, Machias, was arrested by Bangor police and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquors.

Philip Brown, 37, Holden, was arrested by Brewer police and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquors. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail.

Henry Arthur Robinson, 40, Bradford, was arrested by Bangor police and charged with violation of a protection order in an incident on Center Street. Robinson was taken to Penobscot County Jail and scheduled to appear in 3rd District Court on Sept. 11.

A Warren Street woman told Bangor police that someone had taken $115 worth of clothing from her clothesline sometime between 5 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday.

A Holden man told Brewer police Tuesday that someone had taken a sharp instrument and scraped the side of his 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck parked on Atlantic Avenue. Damage to the truck was estimated at $400.

A Griffin Park man reported to Bangor police that someone had taken $50 worth of medicine, including Valium, from his apartment sometime between 8 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday when he was away from his apartment. The man said his apartment had been unlocked and the medicine was located in a kitchen cupboard.
