EXETER — Three Exeter youths were big winners at the Bangor State Fair this year. Entries by Paula Brayson, Mike Crane Fogler and Patrick Brayson were all judged to be grand champions in the Penobscot County 4-H Market lamb competition. The three live next door to one another. Each received trophies for this honor.
Paula Brayson also received a first-place ribbon for fitting; a third-place ribbon for showmanship and a fourth-place ribbon for judging in the novice division.
For Fogler, it was the second year in a row that he had won the grand champion trophy. He also won a second-place ribbon for fitting; a second-place ribbon for showmanship; and a fourth-place ribbon for judging.
Patrick Brayson won a third-place ribbon in fitting; a fourth-place ribbon for showmanship; and a third-place ribbon in judging.
The three said their secret for success was getting the lambs from the Puddleduck Farm in East Corinth, as well as walking the lambs three miles a day and feeding them good-quality feed.
