Soviet businesses aid Acady Music Festival

During the past decade of music making, the Arcady Music Festival has received support from many Maine businesses and individuals. This year’s festival, titled “A Musical Peace,” was sponsored in part by donations from businesses in the Soviet Union.

The Leningrad chamber ensemble, Klassika, received funding for its current United States trip from the Soviet Union’s North-Westcq Trust for Construction and Assembly of High Voltage Electro-Transmission Lines and Substations, along with the State Institute for Planning of Special Structures, division of Leningrad Power Co.

Representing the North-West Trust during the trip were Lev L. Komarov, manager and director, and Reinhardt G. Sigle, assistant manager and director of the Soviet-operated company. Komarov and Sigle toured Bangor Hydro-Electric Co.’s Energy House as the Soviets were very much interested in energy-management techniques.
