VEAZIE — Residents here have been warned to ignore those stickers with the emergency ambulance phone numbers they received recently.
Representatives of Capital Ambulance of Brewer went door-to-door late last month passing out stickers with the numbers on them to residents. However, those numbers were changed soon after the stickers were passed out, according to Susan Harvey, office manager and dispatcher at Capital.
Since the matter was brought to light by Town Manager Gerald S. Kempen recently, Capital has been busy rectifying the situation. The new numbers will be mailed out to residents Friday, and should be received Saturday, Harvey said.
Harvey said that Capital personnel had verified the emergency numbers of their client towns before the stickers had been printed and before the Veazie phone-number change. Also, she said she was uncertain how many Veazie residents had been affected by the matter. Still, she said Capital has had no calls from residents about it.
“That was corrected first thing this morning,” she said Wednesday.
The correct phone numbers are — Veazie police and fire: 947-2911; ambulance: 866-4451.
