ORONO — The University of Maine will hold a seminar designed for the practicing land surveyor and those wanting to review material in surveyors’ examinations Monday, Oct. 8, through Wednesday, Oct. 10, in Portland.

The New England States Land Surveyor Refresher and Professional Exam Review will begin with student sign-up at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in Verrillo’s Restaurant and Portland Convention Center.

Deadline for registration is Sept. 21.

The practicing land surveyor will get a review and update in areas of engineering surveying, property line surveying, astronomic obsrvations, geodetic computations and photogrammetry. A review of academic material normally covered by the national and state land surveyors’ examinations will be included.

Raymond J. Hintz and Harlan J. Onsrud, university associate professors of surveying and engineering, will be instructors. Hintz was a professor from 1983 to 1987 at the University of Florida. Onsrud, a lawyer, land surveyor and engineer, served in a similar position at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
