Maine state police were searching over the weekend for a Winterport man after finding an estimated $30,000 in stolen goods on his property.

After following through on an investigation, and after a witness reported seeing stolen property loaded into the man’s dump truck the day after a robbery last week, state troopers issued a search warrant for the man, whom they have not been able to locate.

However, no arrest warrant has been issued for the man, although the District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case, according to Trooper Donald Pomelow. Currently, the only charge being considered against the man is possession of stolen property, he said.

“We would like to talk to him,” Pomelow said.

Pomelow said that the property consists mostly of tools and building materials from new construction sites.

The property recovered comes from five thefts and robberies in four Maine towns during the past six months, according to Pomelow, who said that two of the thefts occurred in Hampden, and one occurred in Jackman. The others were in Winterport and Frankfort, he said.

The investigation into the incident is continuing, Pomelow said.

Robert Bishop, 31, of 10 Fort Knox, Bangor, was arrested and charged with violation of a protection order.
