Wendie Lagasse has been named director of Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Healthy Heart Program. She has been with the program for 3 1/2 years as a health educator.

Lagasse earned a degree in health education from the University of Maine at Farmington. She is secretary for the board of directors of the Maine Cardiovascular Health Council and is involved in numerous public health and voluntary agencies, and coalitions.

The program serves as the educational and preventive branch of the EMMC Heart Center and sponsors many blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, support groups and stop-smoking clinics.
