The photographer tells you to swivel left, turn your chin right, tilt your head down, raise your eyes, drop your shoulder and cross your legs. Smile.

You know you look like somebody losing a game of Twister-to-the-death, but your photographer insists you look perfect. And if your photographer is Richard Greene, he can prove it.

Greene’s Klyne Studio in Bangor is the first in Maine to offer an instant digital proof of your photograph.

As his camera commits your picture to film, the Kodak Prism Electronic Previewing System records an identical image on a computer disk. The still image can then be called up on a computer monitor, where both photographer and subject can examine the shot instantly.

In the four weeks since Greene installed the system, his customers have found it not only convenient, but somewhat unbelievable, Greene says.

While no customers have requested a re-shooting after looking at the screen, Greene says that it was invaluable to him at one session that demanded exotic lighting and a little bit of tinkering.

And now, when a subject balks at trying a pose, Greene does not have wait two weeks to show them what he sees. He just turns the monitor around, and there it is: what felt like a pretzel looks like a person — pretty good looking, at that.
