Irving Kagan, a prominent Maine businessman, will be honored by the Israel Bonds organization at a dinner Sunday, Sept. 9, at The Lion in Miller’s Restaurant in Bangor.

Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m., according to Sam Nyer and Louis Kornreich, co-chairmen. For more information about the dinner call Ida Gopan at 941-2950.

Israel Bonds has been helping Israel economically since 1951. All proceeds from the organization during 1990 will be used to provide housing and jobs for Soviet Jews going to Israel.

He is also a life member of Two-Ten Associates Inc., the national philanthropic foundation of shoe, leather and allied trade; and chairman of the board of Eastern Maine Healthcare and Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Kagan and his wife, Paula, have three daughters and one son.

Guest speaker at the Israel Bonds dinner will be Dr. Gerald Meister, director of the Israel Institute for Interreligious Studies.
