FORT FAIRFIELD — A Presque Isle man was injured Tuesday in a potato-truck rollover accident reported at 1:58 p.m. on Strickland Road.

Fort Fairfield Police Chief Neil Saucier said Timothy A. Morrow, 29, of Presque Isle was taken by a friend to the Loring Air Force Base Hospital. Morrow was treated and released, according to Fort Fairfield police.

Saucier said Morrow was operating a 1973 Chevrolet bulk-body potato truck loaded with about 175 barrels of potatoes when he apparently swerved to the right and rolled over a small embankment. The truck was owned by Robert W. Churchill of Fort Fairfield.

The truck was demolished and the potatoes destroyed, with damage to both estimated at about $4,000, said Saucier.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation. Police could not determine whether Morrow was wearing a seat belt. Assisting Saucier was State Trooper John Bailey of Mars Hill.
