According to state police, Michael Newton, town of residence unknown, was killed when the car driven by Jonathan Parker, 19, of Farmingdale, crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle head-on. Police said Parker apparently fell asleep at the wheel of the 1984 Oldsmobile Ciera.
Parker and another passenger, Michelle Baranik, were hospitalized following the accident at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. Michael Labbe, 23, of Leeds, the driver of the other vehicle, a 1986 Toyota pick-up, was not injured, police said.
