At 11:30 p.m. Friday, Laura Snyder, 41, of Eastport was charged with criminal trespass at the Flag Officer’s Mess Restaurant on Water Street. After the restaurant management asked her to leave because of unruly behavior, Snyder refused to do so and the police were called. She reportedly told the officer to arrest her, and the officer did so.
Three men were arrested early Saturday morning after one man’s wife complained to police about a disturbance in her house. Marlene Newell of Shackford Street called the police at 2:30 a.m., asking that her husband, Perry Newell, 23, Ralph Moody, 29, of Eastport and Raymond Moore, 32, of Perry be removed. An officer asked the men to leave, but they refused and assaulted the officer. Additional police were called in, and the men were subdued and taken to Washington County Jail. Newell was charged with assault, and Moody and Moore were charged with assault and obstructing government administration. The officer did not require medical attention.
Keith Follis, 30, of Eastport was charged with three counts of assault at 1 a.m. Sunday. Follis reportedly attacked a woman in the fish pier parking lot after an argument over a broken windshield. Two men came to the woman’s aid, and they also were hit by Follis. A police officer who had stopped to investigate vandalism at a nearby building saw the fight, broke it up and arrested Follis. The vandalism, a smashed window at the law office of John Foster, is still under investigation.
Harold Hawkes, 19, of Charlotte was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, after he was observed driving erratically by an Eastport officer.
