PRESQUE ISLE — The Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Program of Aroostook is planning an Alzheimer’s memory walk in recognition of November as National Alzheimer’s Awareness month.
A kickoff group walk will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Weiden Auditorium lobby. The walk will end at the Forum.
An independent walking program during the week of Nov. 3 will be done by participants collecting pledges from sponsors for the distances they walk. The pledges will be collected only during October. Collection of pledge money will take place Nov. 11-21.
Proceeds from the event will be used to establish an Alzheimer’s Identification Patch Program. Memory Walk participants will be honored at a reception Nov. 20 at Gould Memorial Hospital in Presque Isle. Certificates of appreciation will be awarded to all participants of the event.
