ORONO — Pianist Anne-Marie McDermott, who has appeared as soloist with many of America’s leading orchestras, will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, in the Hutchins Concert Hall of the Maine Center for the Arts, University of Maine.
Her performance will include works by Bach, Schubert, Faure, Chopin and Brahms. For ticket information, call the MCA Box Office, 581-1755. David G. Klocko, UM associate professor of music, will deliver a pre-concert lecture on the composers and their music at 2 p.m. in the center’s Bodwell Dining Area.
McDermott began to play the piano at the age of 5 and, at 12, performed the Mendelssohn Concerto in G minor with the National Orchestral Association in Carnegie Hall. She attended the Manhattan School of Music as a scholarship student.
Well known as a chamber musician, she has played at many festivals, including the Festivas Casals in Puerto Rico, as a guest artist with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Dubrovnik Festival in Yugoslavia. She has made appearances throughout the United States, including a solo performance with the Moscow Virtuosi in Boston’s Symphony Hall.
