After reading Dorothy Ehman’s Aug. 30 letter concerning James River Corp.’s proposed expansion, I am inclined to agree with her.

In the first place, the test they give their potential employees is ridiculous. Ninety percent of the people who are hired start out packing paper products; a very tedious job. Why anyone with a college degree would even consider wasting it on a job like this is beyond belief. And the fact that they require a test to be taken before anyone is hired is absurd.

Another reason why James River’s expansion isn’t impressive is the fact that when they do hire people only one out of 10 people

hired is from Old Town.

So their expansion may help the area overall. It won’t create any jobs for the residents of Old Town. Tammy White Old Town
