EAST SULLIVAN — Sumner Memorial High School will sponsor its tenth annual Drug and Alcohol Awareness week, Oct. 22-26. This will coincide with the National Red Ribbon campaign.

The activities for the week include distribution of “The Choice for Me, Drug-Free” flyers and ribbons; discussion with John Jenkins, a 1985 Olympic karate gold medalist on setting goals, decision making, and self-esteem; announcement of the winners of the “Zero Tolerance, Get Tough on Drugs” poster and essay contest; a freshman awareness program which will involve films, speakers, skits, and discussion concerning alcohol and drug use and abuse; and on Friday, Oct. 26, end-of-the-week festivities including the appearance of Tim Sample at 9:30 a.m. at Mountain View Middle School and 12:30 p.m. at Sumner.
