Warriors halt HA for 11th

HAMPDEN – Cindy Cabral and Erica Brown each scored two goals to lift the Nokomis Warriors to a 4-0 victory over the Hampden Academy Broncos in schoolgirl field hockey action here Friday.

The Warriors improved to 11-0. Goalie Christina Smith made 4 saves on 5 shots.

For Hampden, now 3-7, netkeeper Mary Eaton made 2 saves on 9 shots.

Nokomis won the JV game 3-0.

Hermon 1, Old Town 0

At Old Town, Jen Clark scored on the second shot taken by Hermon in the first set of corner kicks to lead Hermon to the overtime win.

Lori Bragg had the assist on the goal for the 5-6 Hermon Hawks. Tanya Winchenbach made 8 saves on 15 shots.

Andrea Wollstadt made 8 saves on 15 shots for the 3-6 Indians.

The jayvee game ended in a scoreless tie.

Orono 3, Bangor 1

At Bangor, Jocie Badger had a goal and 2 assists to lead the Orono Red Riots to their eight win of the season.

For the 8-2 Red Riots, Jen Pelleriti and Shelly Tyrrell each scored a goal. Kirstin Veeder came up with 5 saves on 12 shots.

Rita Sullivan scored the goal for the 2-9 Rams. Nicki Hawkes made 10 saves on 17 shots.

The jayvee game ended in a scoreless tie.
