HARTLAND — Weston Gould, 30, of Huff Hill, Hartland, was arrested by Somerset County sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday and charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of aggravated forgery, and one count of impersonating a public servant. Other charges may be possible.
According to Sheriff William Wright, a search warrant was executed at Gould’s residence on Wednesday in response to a routine records check. Wright explained that Gould had plans to attend the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in conjunction with plans to become a constable for the town of Hartland.
With the record check, Gould was found to be a convicted felon from a burglary and theft charge in Somerset County in 1978. Additional information indicated that Gould also had a record of unauthorized use of property and an assault.
According to Wright, Gould had received a concealed weapon permit with an allegedly falsified form. He also had recently purchased a firearm.
On the impersonation charge, Wright alleged that Gould had stopped a vehicle by flashing his lights and reportedly identified himself as a Somerset County officer.
