UNITY – Tim Marble scored a game-high 28 points to lead Unity College to an 85-81 victory over Westbrook College in the Unity Tipoff Tournament here Friday night.
St. Joseph the Provider of Rutland, Vt., defeated the University of Maine-Augusta 91-61 in the other opening-round game. The two winners meet for the championship Saturday at 2 p.m. Westbrook and UMA play the consolation game at noon.
The Rams of Unity also received 15 points and 7 assists from Matt Bennett and 14 points and 11 rebounds from Tony Therrien. Marble also had 9 rebounds.
Ted Quinn scored 24 points, including four 3-pointers, to power Westbrook College, which is entering its first season of men’s intercollegiate athletic competition. Ron Crosby contributed 14 points, Jason Tupper added 13, and Ian Merrill had a dozen.
