Hampden youth soccer wins

YORK – The Hampden youth soccer team defeated York 9-1 and Portland 1-0 in the Maine Youth Soccer Round Robin Tourney Saturday. In the first game, Scott Sargent scored 3 goals, Aaron Peppard and Rob King scored 2 apiece and Ben Priest and Dan Morton each scored a goal for Hampden. In goal, Dustin Campbell saved 1 of 2 shots. For York, Luke McDonald scored a goal and goalie Eric Boardman made 8 saves on 21 shots. Jeff Meinhart scored for Hampden in the second game and Campbell saved 9 of 11 shots. Hampden finished sixth in the tournament of 13 teams with a 2-2 record. For Portland, 1-3, goalie Scott Nelson made 7 saves on 8 shots.
