I can only hope the motoring public has noticed an “overnight” change in the riding qualities of the railroad crossing on outer Hammond Street in the vicinity of Wickes Lumber.

This “overnight” success was due in large measure to the fine effort and cooperation between the City of Bangor, Maine Department of Transportation, and the Springfield Terminal Railway forces. Traditional methods and lines of demarcation with respect to responsibility were temporarily cast aside to accomplish this nighttime project which could not in any way have been completed as quickly or efficiently without the generous contribution of all parties.

I extend my sincere thanks to all involved in bringing the improvements to this very busy crossing to satisfactory completion. Robert S. Gillam Track Supervisor Springfield Terminal Railway, Old Town
