No more blind loyalty

This old man has had it with Bush, Cheney, et al. Who the hell do they think they are? Contemplating exchanging the lives of our youth for oil? OIL? For the love of God!

I steadfastly supported this nation in World War II and with the best of reasons. I supported it through the Korean War with some misgivings. I supported it during the first part of the Vietnam War for the very worst of reasons — blind loyalty.

No more, no more. The founders of this beloved nation would writhe in their graves if they knew to what depths their children’s children have sunk in the name of greed. I can well understand how dear to the hearts of the Bushes and Bakers oil can be; they have grown wealthy from controlling it, selling it, and groveling before those who have it.

Mr. “Read My Lips” sold me on his integrity and a “kinder, gentler America.” That the man has lied once more really should not surprise a man of my age. I feel only shame and stupidity for believing it in the first place…. Robert W. Ronco East Corinth
