Charles J. Birkel of Bangor has been elected president of the American Legion Holding Co. Inc. of Bangor.

Birkel has served as vice president, a stockholder and director of the company during the last five years. He will replace Dave Fuller, who served more than 25 years as president.

Alex Zoidis was elected vice president, and re-elected treasurer was Gordon E. Reynolds, who is a director and stockholder. George A. Higgins was appointed stockholder and was elected director. All are of Bangor.

All elected officers are members of the James W. Williams American Legion Post of Bangor and are longtime members of the legion.

The holding company serves as trustee, managing funds, investments and real estate activities for the post.
