Fun, fund raising to be combined in Dec. 8 events at Unity College

UNITY — From morning to evening on Saturday, Dec. 8, Unity College will be humming; from the school’s first holiday Arts and Crafts Fair through the David Mallet performance, fun will be combined with fund raising as two of the events will benefit the 25th Anniversary Campaign.

The arts and crafts fair, which will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will have more than 30 booths featuring one of the widest varieties of gift items, from porcelain dolls, jewelry and wreaths, to pottery, Maine tartans, handcrafted, homemade articles and edibles.

For those who enjoy sports, the basketball game between Unity and the University of Maine, Farmington, will begin at 1 p.m. in the gymnasium. Admission will be $2 per person.

The exhibition titled “Seven Maine Painters as Printmakers” will be open to the public in the Unity College Art Gallery. Featured will be the works of Cicely Aikman, Maret Hensick, Natasha Mayers, John Muench, Tom Paiement, Alice Steinhardt and Mark Wethli.

At 7:30 p.m., the David Mallet Concert featuring Chris Neville will begin.

Tickets purchased in advance are $8 at The Fertile Mind Book Store and Mr. Paperback, Belfast; the Iron Horse Book Store, Railroad Square, Waterville, or Unity College Student Center. Tickets will be $10 at the door. For information, call Unity College.

The Student Center food counter will be open throughout the day. Light meals, sandwiches and soft drinks will be available at reasonable prices.
