PRESQUE ISLE — The University Theater of the University of Maine at Presque Isle has announced auditions for George Bernard Shaw’s comedy of manners, “Arms and the Man,” and an original one-act play, “What is Practical,” by Carol Ann Wilder.
The plays will be directed by Dr. Richard Asam, associate professor of speech and theater. Auditions will be held in the music room in Wieden Hall from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 6 and 7.
“Arms and the Man” requires five men and three women: three officers, a servant, a father, two young women and a mother. The play will be presented March 12, 13 and 14.
“What is Practical” is a new play written by senior English major Carol Ann Wilder of Presque Isle. The play concerns two women, Amanda and Peggy, and their effort to open a new restaurant. The play requires two women and two men.
Auditions are open to the public.
