SOUTH PORTLAND – Southern Maine Technical College improved its record to 8-1 with an 89-76 men’s basketball win over Eastern Maine TC of Bangor here Saturday.

John Young paced the winners with 23 points, Ed Haggarty added 15, and Craig Dagan netted 14. Dagan also had 12 assists for the winners and Jason Merrifield grabbed 11 rebounds. SMTC is now 4-0 in the Maine Small College Conference.

Jim Card paced EMTC with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Roger Stinson chipped in with 20 points and Shannon Dwyer netted 18. Mike Williams had 7 assists. EMTC is 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
