It wasn’t too many years ago that Scott Fish and Michael Tracy were boys playing in my back yard.

These are fine young men who were “full of the devil” and could, given the chance, make you believe that they were, in fact, too smart for mere mortals to handle.

The boys are now men in every sense of the word and are in uniforms in the deserts of Saudi Arabia.

Every generation seems to send our young and our best to be “tested.” These lads come from good stock and fine families and I have no doubt that they will accomplish their goals; pass their test, as their dads did before them.

I would hope that all who read this letter realize that these young men are under orders from their respective commanders, up to and including, the president of the United States!

While some may not support the current rationale in Washington, please let these men know that we support them in their endeavors, their missions and their early return to safety.

I support them because without people like these, in places like that, people like us could not write letters like this — good, bad or indifferent. Msgt. C.T. Robertson Jr. Maine Army National Guard Bangor
