MAINE vs. NEW HAMPSHIRE

Time, site: Saturday, 2 p.m.; Lundholm Gym, Durham, N.H.

Records: Maine 6-5; New Hampshire 3-7.

Series: Maine leads series 12-11, including 2 wins last year.

Key players: Maine – C Rachel Bouchard (22.1, 11.3 rpg, 2.4 spg); F Heather Briggs (10.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg); F Tracey Frenette (9.6 ppg) G Carrie Goodhue (8.2 ppg); Julie Bradstreet (7.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 4.1 apg); New Hampshire – C Laura Seiden (18.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg); G Julie Donlan (10.7 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 4.8 apg); F Kendall Daly (10.5 ppg), F Deb Russell (6.3 ppg)

Outlook: Teams are at opposite ends of momentum scale. Maine has won three straight. UNH has lost three of last four, including 73-49 blowout vs. Auburn, the nation’s seventh-ranked team. The Wildcats were picked third in NAC preseason coaches poll giving Maine a decent test to open the conference. Seiden was NAC Rookie of the Year last season and she and Donlan were preseason all-conference. Maine’s bench seems to have gotten deeper as season has gone on. UNH will be playing without starter Sue Ryan (stress fracture).
