MADAWASKA — The Northern Maine Regional Planning Commission and the Northern Maine Technical College will have a series of small-business tax planning workshops at Madawaska High School in February.

Business Asset Management and Recordkeeping will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. It will look at depreciation, disposal and sale of business property; depreciation, expense election and recordkeeping for depreciated property, including automobiles; and computer software available to assist small business with business asset analysis.

Business Expenses and Deductions will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23. The workshop will look at the expenses of using the home for business, the eligibility for a home deduction, how to handle auto and other travel and entertainement by the small-business person, and how to handle operating losses.

The courses will be in Room 215 at Madawaska High school. The cost is $40 a course or $75 for both courses. For more information call the NMRPC at 1-800-427-8736.
