Dexter frosh boys edge Penquis

MILO – The Dexter freshman boys edged host Penquis 48-47 here Monday in basketball action. For 4-8 Dexter, James Hartley scored 12 points and Nathan Dorman added 10. For 2-8 Penquis, Adam Harmon scored 18 points and Andy Hoyle had 16.

Steuben JHS boys defeat Gouldsboro

GOULDSBORO – Brenton Parritt scored 18 points to lead the Steuben Junior High School boys to a 48-35 basketball victory over Gouldsboro here Monday. For 4-2 Steuben, Mark Newenham and Mike Bellatty scored 16 and 12 points, respectively. For 2-6 Gouldsboro, Jeremy Coombs had 16 points and Davy Seward added 10.

GSA frosh boys beat Ellsworth

BLUE HILL – Matt Haney scored a game-high 20 points to lead the host George Stevens Academy freshman boys to a 50-39 win over Ellsworth here Monday. For 9-4 George Stevens, Tom Pickering added 10 points. Josh Hill scored 10 for 10-2 Ellsworth.

Brewer frosh boys down Hampden

HAMPDEN – Jeff Millett and Dan Needham scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, to lead the Brewer freshman boys to a 65-54 win over Hampden here Monday. For Brewer, Dan Churchill added 11 points. For Hampden, Jeff Carson scored 14 and Shawn Bradford added 11.
