Youth hockey

PVHC squirts split The Penobscot Valley Hockey Conference squirts defeated Winslow 14-0 Sunday at Sockalexis Arena on Indian Island to earn a split of their weekend youth hockey travel games. Saturday, Waterville Area downed PVHC 7-3 at Alfond Arena in Waterville. On Sunday, Kevin Longo, Nate Waring, and Keith Freeman each scored a hat trick, John Allen had a goal and three assists, and Mark Blaine, Justin Payson, Chris Tanis, and Jason Lavigne each scored a goal. Derek Damon and Jarrod Gordon also had three assists each. J.D. Crichton was the goalie for PVHC, now 11-10 overall, while Jim Farrell and Jake Frazier split the duties for Winslow. On Saturday, Eric Nadeau and Eric Mitchell each scored twice and Mike Viscarelle, Chris Rodriguez, and Dean Carpenter scored once for Waterville Area, while Trapper Clark made 19 saves on 22 shots. For PVHC, Damon, Payson, and Gordon scored, and Crichton made 8 saves on 15 shots.

Orono Red tip Bangor White

Mike Morano, Travers Kurr and Red Wegner each scored a goal to key Orono Red to a 3-1 youth hockey win over Bangor White at Sawyer Arena in Bangor Sunday. For Bangor, Mike Dube scored the lone goal.

River City goes 2-1

The River City youth hockey team from Bangor went 2-1 in three games Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, River City won 7-5 over Presque Isle at Presque Isle. For River City, Brock Soucie, John Nicholson and Pat Gordon each scored 2 goals. For Presque Isle, Scott Madore had 2 goals. Jamie DeRosier, Chris Beaulieu and Tyler Player each scored a goal. On Sunday at Plaster Rock, N.B., Dusty Copey scored 2 goals to lead Plaster Rock. Darren Gallod, Marty Jenkins and Derek Ashworth each had a goal. For River City, Pat Gordon, Ken Silvestri and Soucie each had a goal. Also Sunday, River City downed Perth-Andover at Perth-Andover, N.B., 5-2. Natan Obed scored 2 goals for River City. Also, Pat Gordon, John Nicholson and Brock Soucie scored a goal.
