ROCKLAND — The arrests of two people, one for domestic assault, and another for carrying a concealed weapon were reported Tuesday by Chief Deputy Thomas Russell of the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.

Thurlow Poland, 32, of Friendship was arrested for domestic assault on his girlfriend. The offense occurred Saturday at Warren. Russell said the woman filed the complaint that was investigated by Sgt. Paul Pinkham. He determined the woman had suffered bruises on her face from being struck by a fist. She declined to seek treatment at the hospital, Russell said.

Poland was bailed from jail and was scheduled for a court arraignment on March 6, Russell said.

Arrested Monday was Maurice Young, 23, of Cushing. Russell said that Deputy Basil Arau stopped Young walking along a road in Cushing to arrest him on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on another charge. While arresting the man, Russell said, Arau discovered Young was carrying a loaded .22-caliber revolver concealed on his person. A charge of carrying a concealed weapon was lodged and Young was booked at Knox County Jail. He later was released on bail, Russell said.
