Dexter women mark prayer day

DEXTER — The Dexter Council of Church Women United observed the World Day of Prayer March 1 at the Episcopal Church of the Messiah with some 40 attending. Father Cleon Ross of the host church gave the invocation. He also welcomed the group, gave the prayer at the start of the service, gave the offering prayer and the benediction. The ladies of the church served dessert. The theme of the service was On The Journey Together. President Emily Robinson was the leader and readers were Helen Parsons, Viola Watson, Leah Corbin and Gardys Starbird. Helen Wilkins was organist and Ruth Lister, soloist. Florence Leighton took the offering.

Participating churches were the host church, St. Anne’s Catholic Church, the United Methodist Church, the First Baptist Church and the First Universalist Church. The next meeting will be May Fellowship Day, the first Friday in May, with the place to be announced.
