CASTINE — The Maine Maritime Academy’s third Summer Sea Session is scheduled for June 23-28 on the academy campus. High school students from Maine and other states will spend the week learning about the fundamentals of coastal oceanography and seamanship. Activities will include laboratories, lectures and field trips aboard the historic schooner Bowdoin.

The Friendship, a 40-foot stern trawler recently donated by Robert Carlton of Alton, N.H., also will be used as a floating classroom and research craft.
