PRESQUE ISLE — The Citizens Committee for the Right to Bear Arms has named Mackin D. Higgins of Presque Isle to receive a Citizen of the Year award.
Higgins has been selected because of his dedication to the efforts to preserve the right of the people to keep and bear arms, guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, committee officials said.
Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the committee, said that through efforts such as Higgins’ the right to keep and bear arms has survived. Criteria for selection is based on activities in local, state and national gun rights issues, writing letters to editors, contacting elected officials or appearing for public testimony.
The CCRKBA is a national organization with nearly 500,000 members and a National Advisoty Council that includes 130 members of Congress.
