AUGUSTA — The State Board of Education on March 14 established an award in memory of James C. MacCampbell, a board member who died in October 1990. The award will recognize public school libraries that exemplify adopted standards for libraries in Maine.

A plaque with the inscription of the school and a $200 donation to the library program will be presented to winning schools each year.

MacCampbell was a librarian at the University of Maine at Orono and assisted at the Margaret Chase Smith Library in Skowhegan.
