WATERVILLE — Gov. John R. McKernan will present the first Governor’s Awards for Business Excellence to five Maine companies at a Colby Institute for Management luncheon Wednesday, March 27, at Colby College.

Awards are given for excellence in business, community commitment and employee commitment.

The Colby Institute for Management is a day-long program of lectures, workshops and discussions held with leaders of regional and national business firms. The institute will celebrate its 40th year in 1991 and will feature workshops by Douglas Anderson, vice president of 3M Corporate Quality Services, St. Paul, Minn.; Wayne Burkan, president of Alternative Visions, Farmington Hills, Mich,; Brian Maskell, vice president of product development for Unitronix Corp., in New Jersey; and others.
