ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 35th annual meeting and banquet beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the White Birches.

U.S. Sen. George Mitchell, guest speaker, will address chamber members and guests at 7 p.m. Dinner will follow at 8 p.m.

The officers for the upcoming year are: Chairman of the Board Cooper Friend, president of Friend and Friend, Inc.; First Vice Chairman Henry Bohm, general manager of the Holiday Inn; Secon Vice Chairman Clyde Lewis, general manager of Morrison Chevrolet; Treasurer, Lynda Hamblen, Union Trust Co.; and Secretary, Betty J. Hill, Metropolitan Life Insurance.

Newly elected members of the board of directors are: Blaine Holmes, owner of The Holmes Agency; and Ellen Walker, owner of Blue Hill Department Store. Re-elected to the board were: Bohm, Friend and Julian White of First National Bank of Bar Harbor.

The 12th Top Drawer Award, given annually to an individual, company or organization for distinguished service to community, county or state, will be presented to John Linnehan Sr., co-owner of Ellsworth Ford Sales.

Tickets are $27.50 per person and will not be available at the door. Reservations may be made by calling the Chamber office at 667-5584 or 667-2617.
