EAST ORANGE, N.J. – Caldwell (N.J.) College swept a doubleheader with the University of Maine-Presque Isle here Wednesday in softball action. Caldwell belted UMPI 20-2 in the first game and won 13-3 in the second game.
Stacy Early (3-0) pitched a 4-hitter and had 3 singles and 2 RBIs to lead Caldwell to the victory.
For 5-0 Caldwell, Lisa LaBella hit a 2-run homer in the first inning and singled.
For the 1-3 UMPI Owls, Deb Sirois doubled, singled, and drove in a run, and Heidi Ballerstein added an RBI double.
In the second game, LaBella was a key hitter again with a double, single and 3 RBIs for Caldwell.
Amy McDonald (1-0) pitched a 6-hitter to get the win for Caldwell. McDonald also singled three times and added an RBI.
For UMPI, Melanie Johnson singled and had 2 RBIs. Pam McLaughlin added a single and an RBI.
