AUGUSTA — The second Maine Mineral Symposium will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 20, and run through Sunday, April 21, at the University of Maine at Augusta. Sunday will be devoted to field trips to three Oxford County mines.

The symposium is sponsored by the Federation of Maine Mineral and Gem Clubs and Maine Mineralogical and Geological Society. Gem and mineral displays, exhibits and book sales will be held on Saturday, a slide program on collecting will be held, and a videotape will be shown on the Alder Pond Project.
