OLD TOWN — Samuel Hess of Old Town, a senior at Old Town High School, has received the 1991 Principal’s Award, according to Principal Donald Sturgeon.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Secondary School Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Throughout his years at Old Town High School, Sam has distinguished himself as a highly motivated and capable student. He has exemplified excellence in the classroom and as a school citizen,” said Sturgeon about the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hess of Stillwater.

Hess, Sturgeon and other award winners and their principals were honored at a luncheon at the Bangor Civic Center on Saturday, April 6.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MSSPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s secondary school principals.

The Honors Luncheon recognized the outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the selection of the $1,000 Horace O. McGowan Scholarship recipient.
