EAST MACHIAS — Judd Bragg, a junior at Washington Academy, will receive the Xerox Award in the field of humanities and social sciences at the school’s award ceremonies in June.
Xerox Award winners are selected on the basis of scholarship in the humanities or social sciences, leadership, and community services. According to David T. Kearns, Xerox chairman, the award is designed to acknowledge and reward the academic achievements of outstanding students and to emphasize the importance of the broad educational background needed by students for future careers. The awards program benefits students in high schools in all 50 states.
By winning the award, Bragg is eligible to apply for a Xerox Scholar program at the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y.
The son of Jack and Rhoda Bragg of East Machias, he is a member of the Washington Academy National Honor Society and participated in the school’s basketball program for three years.
