Schwarzenegger to speak on fitness April 24 at UMA

AUGUSTA — Gov. John R. McKernan has announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger, internationally known athlete and movie star, will be the speaker at the Governor’s Distinguished Lecture Series Wednesday, April 24, at the University of Maine at Augusta.

Schwarzenegger, who serves as chairman of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, will speak about the value and benefits of physical fitness programs for all ages.

His remarks will be broadcast live to the other campuses and on the ITV network to Maine high schools.

A native of Austria, Schwarzenegger’s bodybuilding career resulted in 13 world titles and led to his film career. His films include “Total Recall,” “Conan the Barbarian,” “The Terminator,” “Twins” and “Kindergarten Cop.”
