HARTFORD, Conn. – Merv Strickland doubled in two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, breaking up a scoreless tie, to lead the Trinity College softball team to a 2-1 victory over Bates College Wednesday.
Karen Leonard added 2 singles for the 3-3 Bantams and pitcher Julie Roy earned the win on the mound, scattering four hits over the seven innings.
For the Bobcats, now 3-4, Kathy Doughty knocked in the only Bates run with a single in the top of the seventh inning. Pitcher Jodi Sturgis allowed only 5 hits while pitching the complete game.
