On Monday, April 22, the Bangor Mall will sponsor “Earth Day Every Day,” an educational fair that will focus on the environment.

According to Marketing Director Karen Cole, more than 30 non-profit groups will staff exhibits and booths that address various environmental issues. The exhibition will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“Earth Day Every Day will provide an informative and educational fair,” Cole said, explaining that “originally we planned it for students, but we’ve since expanded the concept to include the general public.”

She contacted “numerous natural-resource organizations and environmental-awareness groups to come into the mall and set up displays that will provide information to the public.

“There are few places that can offer an event like this at no charge to the exhibitors,” Cole said, pointing out that the Bangor Mall will waive the floor-rental fee for the exhibition and will supply the necessary tables and chairs at no cost to the exhibitors.

The various displays will be scattered throughout the concourse. Cole hopes that “Earth Day Every Day will spark greater interest in the environment. By holding the exhibition, the mall can show its concern about the environment while paying tribute to Earth Day.”

Among the exhibitors are Bangor Recycling Services, the University of Maine Environmental Studies Center, the Maine Coast Heritage Trust, and the Maine Wastewater Control Association.
